What’s one more clam recipe? If you are at all familiar with me, you know I have a love affair with clams. For several weeks now, I have pondered the thought of creating a clam dip recipe. As I was searching for inspiration, nothing really caught my attention until I came across a recipe from Martha Stewart. So, after a few tweaks of my own, this Creamy Hot Clam Dip recipe is perfection. This dip is one fabulous party appetizer!
Of course, I created a short TikTok video preparing this fabulous clam dip recipe. Be sure to check it out below. If you have not yet signed up for this social media platform, use my code 5SSIS800K0H06 to create an account.
CLAMS FOR CLAM DIP
Make this seafood dip recipe easy on yourself, and go for the canned clams. Normally, this would not be one of my suggestions. However, canned clams will be a huge timesaver.
As an alternative to canned clams, you can certainly use fresh clams. Allow the clams to steam open, mince and do NOT forget to save some of the steaming liquid!
Although I have not tested this out, I am fairly certain you could even substitute the clams with fresh crabmeat. Actually, I may give this a go. However, I may substitute the cayenne pepper with Old Bay Seasoning.
INGREDIENTS FOR CLAM DIP
Pair the canned clams with whipped cream cheese, fresh lemon juice, a touch of sour cream, a few drizzles of Worcestershire sauce, minced shallots, fresh parsley and cayenne pepper for a hint of heat!
HOW TO SERVE CREAMY HOT CLAM DIP
Ok, so I know I went a little fancy with homemade potato chips. Honestly, I encourage you do to so, too. The saltiness and crunchiness of the chips create a perfect marriage with this creamy seafood dip.
Truly, homemade potato chips are super easy to prepare. Just thinly slice a few potatoes (leave the skin on) and fry until golden brown. Allow the potato chips to rest on a cooling rack. Salt immediately out of the fry.
Although potato chips are more authentic to dip into this yummy Creamy Hot Crab Dip, here are a few other suggestions:
- sliced baguette (toasted or not)
SERVE HOT OR COLD
This classic creamy clam dip can be served either hot, or cold. If you do decide to serve this clam dip appetizer cold, after mixing the ingredients in a bowl, chill in the fridge for a few hours and serve. Additionally, do NOT sprinkle on the buttered breadcrumbs.
Seriously, if you are serving this at a party, I am certain there will be NO leftovers. If by chance you have a bit of this amazing Creamy Hot Crab Dip left, place in an airtight container. Store in fridge for up to three days.
Given the use of sour cream in this seafood dip, freezing is not recommended.Print

He’s pretty damn cool too. Not only is he one of the nicest guys you will ever meet, he also has had a lengthy career in professional hockey. Not only winning two Stanley Cups with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the early ’90’s, but most recently winning the Calder Cup with the Charlotte Checkers, amongst many other accolades. If you live in Charlotte and play hockey, or have a family member who plays, be sure to contact him!
Our life has changed dramatically in the past few years with the passing of our two goldendoodles, Vegas and Viva. We were lucky enough to have Vegas for five years (totally wish it was longer). Most recently, losing our Viva to a brain tumor in July of 2020. We welcomed our mini goldendoodle 7, almost seven years ago. We just added the amazing Hazel!
