CLAMS FOR CLAM DIP

Make this seafood dip recipe easy on yourself, and go for the canned clams. Normally, this would not be one of my suggestions. However, canned clams will be a huge timesaver.

As an alternative to canned clams, you can certainly use fresh clams. Allow the clams to steam open, mince and do NOT forget to save some of the steaming liquid!

Although I have not tested this out, I am fairly certain you could even substitute the clams with fresh crabmeat. Actually, I may give this a go. However, I may substitute the cayenne pepper with Old Bay Seasoning.

INGREDIENTS FOR CLAM DIP

Pair the canned clams with whipped cream cheese, fresh lemon juice, a touch of sour cream, a few drizzles of Worcestershire sauce, minced shallots, fresh parsley and cayenne pepper for a hint of heat!

HOW TO SERVE CREAMY HOT CLAM DIP

Ok, so I know I went a little fancy with homemade potato chips. Honestly, I encourage you do to so, too. The saltiness and crunchiness of the chips create a perfect marriage with this creamy seafood dip.

Truly, homemade potato chips are super easy to prepare. Just thinly slice a few potatoes (leave the skin on) and fry until golden brown. Allow the potato chips to rest on a cooling rack. Salt immediately out of the fry.

Although potato chips are more authentic to dip into this yummy Creamy Hot Crab Dip, here are a few other suggestions:

  • crackers
  • sliced baguette (toasted or not)
  • flatbread
  • pita
  • bread
  • crostini
  • pretzels
  • vegetables

SERVE HOT OR COLD

This classic creamy clam dip can be served either hot, or cold. If you do decide to serve this clam dip appetizer cold, after mixing the ingredients in a bowl, chill in the fridge for a few hours and serve. Additionally, do NOT sprinkle on the buttered breadcrumbs.

LEFTOVERS

Seriously, if you are serving this at a party, I am certain there will be NO leftovers. If by chance you have a bit of this amazing Creamy Hot Crab Dip left, place in an airtight container. Store in fridge for up to three days.

Given the use of sour cream in this seafood dip, freezing is not recommended.
