This recipe for Tuna Tartare Avocado Boats may just be the perfect lunch, dinner, or even snack. One aspect I love most about this dish, aside from the flavor profile of course, is that it is super easy to prepare and takes less than ten minutes. In addition to all of this, it is super healthy and clean. For all of you keto fans, this one is definitely for you too! I just love how you can use the avocado as a vessel for all of the yummy tuna tartare. Pile it high!

Healthy and clean recipes are not typically my norm, but I am on a serious detox after having toxic mold poisoning. So, for the next month or so, get ready to be bombarded with a few! I do not think you will mind too much. They are guaranteed to be super tasty and delicious.

As for the Ponzu sauce I used in this recipe, you can make your own or use one from the Asian aisle at your local grocery store. If you want to make your own, click here to check out my recipe.

I also created a quick video on TikTok on how to make these Tuna Tartare Avocado Boats. Click here to view. I have been getting a lot of questions lately about where I buy the plates and boards I use for my displays. Most often, the answer is HomeGoods. Love going in there and grabbing a plate or two, like these, for under four dollars each. Utensils, I typically purchase from Amazon. Check out this cute three-piece wooden Japanese set I used in this photo.

HOW TO MAKE TUNA TARTARE AVOCADO BOATS

Last things last. Save the cutting of the avocados until you are ready to fill. We all know how quickly they can turn brown. Be sure to pick avocados that are just perfectly ripe.

In a bowl, combine the Ponzu sauce, sesame oil, toasted sesame seeds, freshly grated ginger and lime juice. Whisk well. Give it a taste just to be sure the flavors are perfect. You may want to add in a touch more Ponzu sauce, or even sesame oil. I must admit, I love sesame oil. Be sure to use one that is of high-quality. It will make all the difference in this recipe. Also, feel free to play with the flavors. Let me know what you come up with.

Dice the tuna. Throw the tuna into the sauce and mix to coat.

Cut the avocado in half. On the bottom of each half, make a slight cut to flatten the avocado (you can see me doing this in the video). Just be careful not to pierce the flesh too much. This will help to steady the avocado so that it does not fall over when you are filling. Make slits in the flesh of the avocado as if you were going to dice and scoop out. Do NOT scoop out. Fill each avocado half with the tuna tartare mixture.

Garnish the Tuna Tartare Avocado Boats with additional toasted sesame seeds. I would have also used a few black sesame seeds, but I did not have any on hand. Sprinkle each avocado boat with a bit of the diced jalapeño. As an alternative, or in addition to, you could also garnish with Sriracha Mayo. I am giving up dairy for a while, so no Sriracha may for me, but the jalapeños worked great. They added a nice crunchy element to the dish. Serve immediately. ENJOY!

LET’S GET SOCIAL!

I am more than just recipes. I love fashion and style too! Most importantly, I love my Family (my Hubby and my Fur Babies). My Husband (aka my “Kitchen Bitch”) means the world to me. He’s pretty damn cool too. Not only is he one of the nicest guys you will ever meet, he also has had a lengthy career in professional hockey. Not only winning two Stanley Cups with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the early ’90’s, but most recently winning the Calder Cup with the Charlotte Checkers, amongst many other accolades. If you live in Charlotte and play hockey, or have a family member who plays, be sure to contact him. He is known as one of the best skate sharpeners in the world!

Our life has changed dramatically in the past few years with the passing of our two goldendoodles, Vegas and Viva. We were lucky enough to have Vegas for five years (totally wish it was longer). Most recently, losing our Viva to a brain tumor in July of 2020. We welcomed our mini goldendoodle 7, almost seven years ago. We just added the amazing Hazel! Of course, I am always posting tons and tons of photos! Be sure to check out my recipe for Pet Bone Broth!
