Caramelized Vidalia Onion Dip made with sweet slow-cooked onions and a creamy base. An easy appetizer perfect for parties and game day.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large Vidalia onions, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt, divided
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced Vidalia onions with 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
- Cook the onions, stirring occasionally, until they are soft, golden, and deeply caramelized, about 20–25 minutes. Reduce heat if needed to prevent burning.
- Remove from heat and allow the onions to cool slightly. Drain any excess grease on paper towels.
- In a large bowl, combine the cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt. Mix until smooth. Taste for salt, and/or additional seasonings.
- Stir in the caramelized onions.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to develop.
- Serve chilled or slightly softened at room temperature.
- ENJOY!

- Let the onions cool slightly before mixing into the dip.
- Chill before serving for the best texture and taste.
- Adjust seasoning after mixing, if needed.
