Notes
- This Savory Cowboy Butter is perfect for steaks, seafood, chicken, vegetables, or even spreading on bread.
- I used salted butter, but you can substitute with unsalted.
- Maintain the heat at a medium-low to avoid browning or burning the butter and garlic.
- To maintain freshness, stir the fresh herbs into the butter off of the heat.
- You can customize the recipe by adjusting the lemon zest and juice to your taste, especially if you prefer a milder lemon flavor.
- Feel free to swap out whole grain mustard for Dijon or yellow mustard, and use dried herbs like parsley and chives if you don’t have fresh.
- If you want more spice, add extra Aleppo pepper or crushed red pepper flakes.
- Store leftover cowboy butter in the fridge for up to a week or freeze it in ice cube trays for easy use up to 3 months.
- For a dairy-free version, substitute ghee for the butter.
