This simple, Homemade Cream of Mushroom Soup recipe comes together quickly, making it perfect as an ingredient in casseroles and sauces.

- 8 ounces button or cremini mushrooms, diced small
- 1 to 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Clean the mushrooms with a damp paper towel and dice them small.
- Heat a sauté pan over medium heat. Add the mushrooms and cook until all moisture has evaporated.
- Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Add the butter and let it melt. Sauté for another two minutes.
- Sprinkle the flour over the mushrooms, stirring to coat. Let it cook for a few minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
- Slowly whisk in the heavy cream, until the desired consistency is reached. You may not use it all.
- Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.

Notes
