Description

Creamy Homemade Tzatziki Sauce made with Greek yogurt, cucumber, garlic, lemon, and dill. An easy Mediterranean sauce perfect for bowls, wraps, and dipping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 English cucumber, grated and squeezed dry
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Zest of 1/2 lemon
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of black pepper, optional

Instructions

  1. Grate the cucumber using a box grater, then squeeze out as much liquid as possible using a paper towel or clean kitchen towel. This step is key for a thick, creamy tzatziki.
  2. In a mixing bowl, add the Greek yogurt, sour cream, grated cucumber, crushed garlic, olive oil, fresh dill, lemon juice, lemon zest, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Stir until smooth and fully combined.
  4. Taste and adjust seasoning, adding more salt or lemon juice if needed.
  5. Cover and refrigerate for at least 15–30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to develop.
  6. ENJOY!

Notes

  • Always squeeze excess water from the cucumber for best texture.
  • Let the sauce chill before serving for deeper flavor.
  • Fresh dill gives the best flavor, but dried can be used if needed.
  • Adjust garlic based on preference for a stronger or milder flavor.
  • Add a drizzle of olive oil on top before serving for presentation.
